ULTRASONIC BALLISTIC METEOROLOGICAL SENSOR
ULTRASONIC BALLISTIC METEOROLOGICAL SENSOR
The Ultrsonic Ballistic Meteorological Sensor (UBMS)
is an instrument that integrates ultrasonic transceivers and the electronics necessary to measure wind speed and direction. All protected in a solid metal housing which also may include:
the measurement of atmospheric pressure and temperature.
on request may be added humidity measurement and GNSS antenna.
The anemometric system DOES NOT USE a thermal field variation sensor to calculate the speed and direction of the wind. This avoids all the uncertainty of this method and the induced thermal signature.
This instrument is equipped with a DC/DC 18-32 VDC power supply that converts this voltage into the various voltage levels required by the various sensors. All data is processed and transmitted via the RS-422 interface.
For military use, mounted on either wheeled or tracked vehicles equipped with a weapon/cannon of appropriate caliber, it is used to improve the precision of ballistic fire control. The UBMS also features built-in diagnostics and fault reporting in less than 10 seconds from power-on with continuous diagnostics and fault monitoring during operation.
The sensing unit has no moving parts, requires no special tools, and requires little to no field maintenance.
The UBMS has been designed, tested and qualified to operate in the harshest environmental conditions as required for military land vehicles.
